Recently, I wrote a thought-provoking blog that has stopped its readers in their tracks, to consider the authenticity of their lives. If you haven't read it, click here to read. Being someone who has always dared to step out of the box, I endeavor to provoke your thoughts once more, as I continue to write about making an impact on your world.
The bible tells us in John3:8, (Complete Jewish Bible)
The wind blows where it wants to, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it’s going. That’s how it is with everyone who has been born from the Spirit.”
If you and I profess to be spirit-filled Christian believers, why do we still try to live according to the same rules as non-believers and except God to sanction what we are doing? I said we because sometimes I find myself traveling this road, and if I am not careful I will allow myself to ignore the Holy Spirit when He is tugging on my heart to put me back on the right path. It is by the Spirit of God we are able to live according to the purpose of God for our lives and make an impact on our world, as Yeshua (Jesus) commanded us to go into the world and make disciples of all men.
You need to know that you are on assignment, and while on this assignment it is the Spirit of the Lord that leads and directs your path. It is He who aligns people for your assignment. You don't need to worry if what you are saying or doing is relevant or if it cater to a specific niche because God has already ordained the ears of those who need to hear what you have to say and will lead them to you.
As a minister of the gospel, catering to a niche is equivalent to feeding those who the bible describes as having itching ears. They only want to hear what makes them feel good, rather than hearing the truth of God's word. I don’t want you to misunderstand what I am saying, while there is a time when having a specific niche is relevant, when it comes to the word of God it is irrelevant. The word of God speaks to everyone the difference is in relation to your assignment and what God has for you to declare to His people at an appointed time. We are only relevant in the kingdom of God when we speak and adhere to His commands. Let us stop trying to fit in the mole of culture and traditions when God has given us the assignment to bring His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
2 Timothy 4:3
For the time is coming when people will not have patience for sound teaching, but will cater to their passions and gather around themselves teachers who say whatever their ears itch to hear.
If we operate outside of the kingdom, how are we going to introduce the kingdom to those who are not a part of it? One of the reasons people were amazed by Yeshua (Jesus) and was drawn to Him during His ministry on earth was the fact that He not only spoke about the Kingdom; He also operated by the principles of the Kingdom. He lived outside the box of what was popular during His time. As the Son of God, He was a perfect man, yet He had to rely on the Spirit of God to accomplish His assignment. He understood His assignment and no matter how the people tried to exalt Him as their earthly king He knew that was not His assignment at the time.
Empowerment for the Assignment
Understanding your assignment and to advance the kingdom is essential to making a great impact on your world. With the promised Holy Spirit we are empowered to be witnesses of the Messiah to the world around us. The Holy Spirit is the one who reveals truth to us, and help us to understand the heart of God for His people. We are to rely on Him to teach us and to lead us. Just as how the disciples were known as those who turned their world upside down, you too possess the power to do the same. Don't allow your social, economic, cultural, or family expectations to abort the purpose of God for your life.
Here are a few questions you need to ask yourself to make an impact on your world and advance the kingdom of God
1. What is my assignment?
2. What are the principles of the kingdom in which I should operate?
3. Where is the Holy Spirit leading me?
4. What is the Word of the Lord to His people?
5. Are my connections in alignment with my assignment?
